Pros and Cons of SaaS CRM (Cloud CRM)

The development of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is revolutionizing the way large and small businesses acquire, pay for and implement CRM (customer relationship management) software systems.

Choosing internal vs external CRM implementation

The first question is whether your firm’s CRM software should be (a) managed by an outside partner or rather (b) managed internally by your own IT crew?

The answer to this question relies on factors such as company, size, competitive environment and strategic goals. Business owners and decision makers should assess their CRM software selection options based on software features, personalization, integration, vendor factors and best long term strategy match for you.

Selecting the Best CRM Deployment Option

It is often advisable to seek vendors that offer multiple deployment options (SaaS, On-Site) with the ability to move between those options. As the business landscape changes, your CRM requirements will too. So it is wise to be prepared.

Vendors such as Microsoft Dynamics and SugarCRM provide both online and onsite CRM deployment options. Unfortunately Salesforce offers only the online option (hosted by Salesforce).

Important to consider a Flexible CRM Platform

Flexibility is also crucial to your decision. Avoid vendor lock-in. Proprietary “platforms” are designed to benefit the vendor, not the customer. Assess how much pain you will endure if you want to  switch CRM vendors. Where as Salesforce provides only one platform (online, hosted by Salesforce), Top competitors such as Sugar and Microsoft Dynamics CRM provide online hosting options (vendor hosting, partner hosting, self hosting) as well as on-premise hosting.

How to make the best CRM Decision?

The White Paper outlines a decision-making matrix to assist businesses as they decide which delivery and deployment option fits them best. The White Paper also provides case studies of SugarCRM customers in order to show how and why they chose a specific deployment model.
