CRM and ERP: What Is The Difference?

When you start to evaluate customer relationship management you will sometimes see abbreviations like CRM or ERP. Many times people are unsure if these are part of the same software category or a separate business category all together. The truth is it can be both.

CRM mainly incorporates sales and marketing automation softwares, things which are useful for customer service and more. At the same time ERP ,which is short for enterprise resource management, uses CRM combined with softwares from the following categories: accounting, distribution management and  human resources.

Customer relationship management will help you to develop and maintain a plan to handle and communicate with both past and present clients, improve customer service, and plan marketing and sales goals. CRM helps to gather and store data in an organized fashion. CRM can integrate with an ERP system and thus, can be seen as a subset ERP.

CRM and ERP when used together will help you to get to know your customer’s wants and needs. This will allow you to help solve any customer-related issues, and create a better service/product overall. ERP is the main storage box for the enterprise, while CRM is the system tool that allows the business to grow into an empire.

The fact remains that when applied correctly, both ERP and CRM will help your business. When you get to know your clients and understand their needs, you will create better products and services. All of this, in turn, will result in more leads and sales.

CRM helps you to store quality data, and access information quickly when you need it most. You are also able to analyze that data and see where the strong and weak points are. Knowing that information allows you to improve in all areas. ERP and CRM will give you total control over all of the processes you need to use on a daily basis. Things like sales, marketing, inventory, costs and other information is all right at your fingertips. With all of this information your company is in a better position to make more money and build lasting customer relations.
