Salesforce vs SugarCRM – Review of Administration and Backups

Review of Admin Features in Sugar and Salesforce

Both SugarCRM and Salesfore are excellent Cloud CRM solutions. The greatest difference lies in the fact that Salesforce must be implemented in their own, single-tenant Salesforce cloud, where as Sugar can be implemented in any cloud environment. Since Sugar is a single-tenanct CRM, it can be implemented in any virtual server environment and then made available across any cloud environment.

Let’s begin with a feature comparison:

Salesforce vs SugarCRM Backup Comparison

Regardless of the outcome of every CRM Comparison Survey, the fact still remains that all CRM solutions share a common denominator: They all have 2 major aspects relative to their CRM Data.

The first aspect is the customer database. This is a program of stored information that is relevant and useful to the operations of the business. What a CRM database contains can differ greatly according to the direction of the business. There is no doubt that this aspect is highly essential to a client or a company.

The second aspect of CRM data is its object relationships between accounts, contacts, opportunities, and all other customer records.

How Salesforce Handles CRM Backups and Data

When you try to compare CRM programs, your first focus is on how your business can benefit from this. And since the security of your business is of the paramount importance, it is equally vital to take note of the reliability of your CRM solution backup. For this purpose, Salesforce.com only provides their customers with a flat file data dump that lacks any critical object relationships. This means that this certain data cannot be useful for offline analysis or storage. This seemed unfortunate for any CRM user because they won’t have any free access to their own data.

Full Data Access with SugarCRM Backups

On the other hand, the CRM Software by Sugar, or SugarCRM, provides its clients with a full database backup of all their data with all the object relationships intact. With the help of the Sugar On-Demand program, clients will be able to get a daily database backup that can be restored in any other existing database. It would also mean that if a client chooses to install Sugar in their own data center, they will have unlimited access to their data.

Backup Feature differentiates SugarCRM from Salesforce.com

Having no access to one’s business data defeats the very purpose of managing the business itself. The client risks his business operations and puts his company in a virtual black hole if he allows data to be treated without any precaution. The point of an objective CRM Comparison is to establish the usefulness of every utility that is available to a business. With SugarCRM, you have full control of your own customer data and backups. With Salesforce.com, customers are locked into the equivalent of a data jail.
